All about CAIIB

 

CAIIBThe Indian institute of bankers and finance(IIBF) has defined the syllabus of CAIIB examination to be as contemporary and exhaustive as possible with eleven elective subjects in list.

The list covers all major aspects of today’s banking, from which a candidates could choose one in their area of interest. Just one of these need to be cleared along with two compulsory subjects.

 

The Institute has also introduced elective subjects as separate certificate examination to give opportunity for members who have completed CAIIB under old syllabus, to specialize in the vertical of their choice. It is suggested that the members may enroll  for the elective subjects in the area they are currently working and later move to other electives as this will enable appropriate skill build up for handling different banking verticals. The fee for the said examination is Rs.1000/- per subject attempt and the passing mark are 50.

 

The revised CAIIB Examination is structured as 2 compulsory papers and 11 elective papers as given below.( Effective from 2012)

Revision of Examination Fees for JAIIB, CAIIB and DB&F

Effective from examinations to be conducted in Nov./Dec. 2011 it has been decided to revise fees for JAIIB, CAIIB and DB&F Examinations as under

@ includes registration fees of Rs.500/- Unlike JAIIB, DB&F has a core banking e-learning also

The time limit for passing DB&F has been revised from 2 attempts to 4 attempts. As per the recommendation of Indian Banks Association(IBA) Diploma in Banking & Finance (DB&F) is now open for 12th passed candidates also and they are eligible to apply from the forthcoming examination to be held in November 2011.

Withdrawal of exemption in subjects of JAIIB and CAIIB(old syllabus) examinations

The scheme of exemption in subjects of JAIIB and CAIIB (old syllabus) examinations is withdrawn effective from the Nov/Dec 2011 examinations. However candidates who were already granted exemption in May 2011 and prior will continue with the exemption granted till they complete the permissible time limit of 4 attempts to pass the examination and on passing the examination they will only be given ‘Pass Class’.

Change in criteria for granting “First class with distinction”

Candidates securing 70% or more marks in aggregate and 60 or more marks in each subject in the first physical attempt will be granted “First class with distinction” in place of the present rule of 75% or more marks in any individual subject and 60% or more marks in the aggregate and pass in all subjects in the first physical attempt
